Smart Trash Can

Minoru Kurata, a Japanese engineer has created a trash can that moves on its own to catch your trash. The device consists of wall-mounted sensors that detects the direction from which direction the trash is coming. A computer then calculates the thrown trash's trajectory and moves the trash can so the item will land inside the can. This invention won an Excellence Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival.
